Isabelle

Cavities in the brass that keeps your door seen
The children carve animals in the sides of your car
We look from our steps to see the world turn
We see the cherubs sharpening their swords
New York a city we both know must burn
London a city we soon shall forget
Paris a town flooded with noise, rain and dirt
Our home abandoned, left for the spider and fox
We can't see no horizon
We can't see the path
We listen for the dead gods
We hear the universal bum
Dead poets proclaim what they need!
Dead poets tell us what they want!
Their rotten hands writing cobweb words
On the graves of their muses, on the doors of the corpses
And who is this Isabelle they all scream for?
Who is this new Hadrian, this girl who will build the golden wall?
The scream for her at night
Shaking in their dreams
They hover over their beds
Muttering spells, musical and rhythmic
Indians come, raiding and killing
Indians come, stroking and kissing
Indians come, standing and waiting
Indians come, taking the brass
The cars on the side of the road
Dusty, dead, decaying
Animals drawn into their dirty sides
Paying their dues for killing so many
Windows boarded up
Doors broken down
Trees breaking concrete
Winds falling trees
Isabelle is coming!
Isabelle is coming!
The dead believe it is so
The living shudder with physical excitement
They all leave their money abattoirs
Their mormon funded abortion coffee shops
Hysterical zoos and house of mirrors (panic room included)
They walk from front step, giving flying 'V' to the golden wall
Isabelle is coming
This is written on their flags
On the walls of their city halls
This is written on the memorials of their soldiers
Written on their moon
It is written on their maps
Written on their prisoners
Everything owned by the new world
And this new world kept turning
Nobody asks why
As nobody asks why it even started
All they ask is when is Isabelle coming?
When is her golden wall being pulled down?
When are the living poets returning
To declare war on their dead counterparts?
To replace the brass on the doors so we can find our way home
